Onkj $1.00 Thursday January 15, 2015 The Official Newspaper of the City of Drayton and Drayton Public School Volume 35 - Number 3 Community blood drive held Monday at Tisdale Manor Drayton's American Legion and Legion Auxiliary spearheaded a blood drive on Monday, January 12, 2015 for United Blood Services. This will help to prevent possible blood shortages in our area this month. The blood drive was held from 1:30 - 5:30 p.m. and was organized by Kristi Scharmer. This was Kristi's first time heading up the blood drive. She said that it had been busy for the entire time thus far when Valley News & Views stopped in. Kristi said that she was able to fill almost all the available spots before hand and that there had been several walk ins. This success would not happen without people willing being willing to take time out of their busy schedules and donate blood. :) ....... These calendars are free to the citizens. Enclosed in each calendar is a donation letter and return envelope in hopes that you will generously give a donation to the fire de- partment and help support them. These calendars were made possible by all the generous businesses that have bought advertisement slots in the calen- dar. Without them the calendars wouldn't have been possible. You can find these calendars at the local businesses sponsoring this project. The fire department will also distribute them door to door in the coming weeks. Drayton Fire & Rescue Department is dedicated to providing the best service possible to you. We currently have a roster of 18 members. We respond when called upon to fires, rescue, ems assists, and storm watch calls. Every member on our depart- ment attends monthly trainings, meetings, and many other events to provide you with the prop- er care when you call upon us. Although we are a volunteer department, we are always ready to serve 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Donations collected thru this project will be used to help pay for our recently updated rescue truck. Please notify the city office before you begin doing this. Your water bill will be adjusted to your account for any water used over your average usage. Notify the city office again when you discontinue letting your water run. Thank You. Some of the early crowd at the community supper. VNV Photo by Lesa Van Camp
