This past week, one hundred entrepreneurs submitting business plans in the fourth annual Innovate ND contest. I submitted one as well, based on renewable energy development in three areas: 1. Nature's energy, 2. Human energy or talent, and 3. Innovative energy that comes from design. The premise is that the "process is as important as the product." The plan promotes (in part) the ten top jobs that are identified in the growing field of remote work. These "jobs" in small business, as created by entrepreneurs in a network, online that seed other jobs, is the major current thrust of grass-root federal and state stimulus programs for communities. The benefit of this method, over traditional directions, is that remote work is more sustainable into the future, while traditional jobs are still "bleeding" from unemployment. The major benefit, however, is that this process of home-centered enterprise balances family and community, which was so well illustrated in the meaning of this year's Super Bowl.
