They left a day earlier than planned and thereby missed the big snow storm. They spent the first night at the America Inn of Sioux Falls. The following day the group (all 57) went to Sioux City where they toured the Memorial and Tribute to the first responders and those who lost their lives during the crash of Flight 232. They also visited Trinity Heights Retreat Center and Sculpture Garden, which also included a life size hand-carved wooden sculpture of The Last Supper. They went on to Council Bluffs where, they visited the Bass Pro Shop and had supper in their restaurant. They spent the night at Springhill Inn and Suites. April 1st the group went to the Precious Moments Chapel and center in Carthag , MO, and that evening they ate at Lambert's, famous for "throwing rolls". They then went to their motel in Branson. The next morning they went to the Mount Pleasant Winery. The rest of the day was spent seeing shows. First they went to the Hughes Theater and saw AYO, put on by The Voices of Glory--formerly Top 5 finishers on America's Got Talent. Theyate at Mel's Diner where they were serenaded by wannabe Country Stars/ waiters. Next they went to the Sight and Sound Theater for a spectacular re-telling of the Book of JONAH. That evening they went back to the Hughes Brothers Theater for their large family variety show, IT. On April 3rd the group left for Little Rock where they toured Bill Clinton's Presidential Library. Then they went on to Memphis. In spite of looking all around Graceland, they concluded that Elvis had definitely left the building. There wasn't even one Elvis impersonator to greet them. They spent that night and also ate at a Drury Inn. Most of the next day was spent touring the Vicksburg Military Park. Besides viewing battle sites there was on display a large Union Ironclad boat, "the Cairo". It was sunk in the Yazoo River in 1862, raised in 1964 and later restored. The following day they left for Louisiana, ate in a suburb of New Orleans and then took a guided tour of Destrehan Plantation. This was followed by a CityTour of New Orleans where they shopped in the French Quarter, viewed places still showing damage from Katrina and saw many unusual above-ground cemeteries. The next day they were mostly riding along The Gulf Heather Lynn Engebretson (back middle) & fellow Chuy Bravo admirers shared a group photo with E!s late night talk show "Chelsea Lately" sidekick. Also referred to as "little nugget" by show's host Chelsea Handler, Bravo is more than a pretty face. At 49, 4 ft 2 in Chuy Bravo is the 1st Latino sidekick on late-night tv, cancer survivor, & recovering alcoholic. Born in Mexico, he launched The Little Nugget Foundation in his hometown Tangancicuaro, Michoacan to help alcoholics & drug addicts find recovery. They spent the night in Millbrook, AL. On April 7th the tour group stopped at Durbin Farmers Market in Clanton and went on to the Ave Maria Grotto in Cullman. The Grotto consists of a landscaped hillside of 125 small stone and cement structures, the handiwork of Brother Joseph Zoetl over a period of 46 years. Then they went to Carter House, where they learned about the Battle of Franklin, TN, which took place in the farmyard, lasted only 5 hours and resulted in over 10,000 casualties. They spent the next two nights at the Drury Inn in Franklin. April 8 was spent in Nashville where the guide had lots of gossip and showed off many of the mansions where current and past Country Stars live. He provided some of the bus riders with hats and other props to portray some of those stars--Saralee was Minnie Pearl. They had a photo op at the big Elvis' guitar replica and also went to the park to see the replica of the Parthenon. After that they toured the Ryman Auditorium. After that they had lunch and went to the Hermitage, the home of PresidentAndrew and Rachel Jackson.. Lori (Boulduc) Harlow attended Chelsea Handler's stand-up comedy tour at the Target Center on April 13th. The "Uganda Be Kidding Me Live" tour promotes her latest book of the same name. Best known as the outspoken host of "Chelsea Lately", Handler shares her fearless honesty & tongu- in-cheek commentary every weeknight at 10:00 pm on "El" network. "Uganda Be Kidding Me" chronicles her safari in Africa & countless other travels; addressing hot travel trips & travel etiquette; centered less on destination & more toward the nature of travel. Travel situations get down & dirty as she defiles a kayak in the Bahamas, & outright sweaty as she escapes from a German hospital on crutches. Handler fondly reminisces about mistaking shampoo for sunblock, vacation weight gain (choosing to wear a bathrobe since her clothes stopped fitting 7 margaritas ago). Thank goodness for her devoted Chuy by her side-except for the time she lost him in Telluride! Sounds like Chelsea Handler sneaked her sharp wit through airport security ..."I think we all know how much I love the sound of my own voice.", she adds. By the way, Lori enjoyed the show. It's so nice to have Jim & Sheila Peterson back home! On their way home from Yuma, AZ they stopped in Tombstone, AZ & toured the town where daughter-in-law Stephanie Peterson grew up. They toured the copper mines in Bisbee, AZ as well. In Colorado, Jim & Sheila spent a night with John & Pat Schaefer. Of course the boys golfed!
