Valley News and Views S Page 9 June 6th, 2013 Yum, Reese's Chocolate Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Treats and Cheeseburger Soup Courtesy of Marsha Klein Reese's Chocolate Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Treats 6 Cups Cocoa Krispies Cereal 2-8 oz. packages Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Minis (they come unwrapped) 5 Tablespoons Butter 3 Tablespoons Light Karo Syrup 1 - 10 oz. Package PLUS 2 HeapingCups Miniature Marshmallows 1/3 Cup Peanut Butter 1/2 Cup Semi-sweet Chocolate Chips In a large bowl, combine cereal and Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. Set aside. Butter the bottom and sides of a 9X13 inch pan and set aside. In a large cooking pot melt I was sitting in the office the other day yapping on the phone when Marsha Klein stopped by and dropped off a plate of goodies and a couple of recipes. I didn't get a chance to thank her so, Thanks Marsha! On the plate she left were a couple of Reese's Chocolate Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Treats (pictured). They were nothing short of awesome. I've included the recipe for the Reese's treats as well as one for Cheeseburger Soup. I'd like to remind our millions of readers that anyone is free to stop by the office and drop off treats. Most everyone enjoys the recipes too, so feel free to drop one offnow and then or email it... or snail mail works too. So let's get talking food. butter over lowheat. Add Karo syrup and marshmallows and stir continuously until mixture is smooth. Remove from heat and add cereal mixture and fold together until cereal is evenly coated. Press into buttered pan. In small microwave safe bowl, melt peanut butter in microwave for 30 seconds on high. Set aside. In a separate small bowl microwave chocolate chips at 30 second intervals, stirring between intervals, until smooth. Carefully drizzle them indiviually ove rbars. Let set at room temperature or put in fridge for about 5 minutes. Then eat them.., all of them. Okay, now that you've teased your appetite a bit, it's time for a hearty meal... Add the broth, potatoes and beef and bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover and simmer 10-12 minutes or until bubbly. Add to the soup and bring to a boil. Cook and stir for 2 minutes. Reduce heat to low. Stir in the cheese, milk, salt and pepepr. Cook and stir until cheese melts. Remove from heat and blend in sour cream.. Makes 8 individual servings, on in some cases on great big serving. Have some fun. Share your recipes with the rest of us.
