Then east to the Hallock area. West of Cavalier, near the Air Station, I spotted a herd of buffalo. A young bull had wandered from the herd. I began to coax him over. Very cautiously he zig-zagged toward me, stopping once in a while to sniff the air, stare at me and ponder the situation. He was about forty feet away and I was trying to figure out how I was going to get him into the car, when he suddenly veered off at a 90 degree angle, slowly arcing back toward the herd. Cute little guy, about a third grown, probably wouldn't have fit in my Toyota anyway. Anyway, I decided to head out in a serendipitous sort of way to see what I might run into. I stopped in at the James Morrison auction in Cavalier. There were enough items of historical interest there to keep a person occupied for years to come. In the auctioneers words, it was a unique auction with many heirlooms from one of Pembina County's historic three story Turn of the Century Homes and there was lots of stuff.
