I got a kick out of the following entries): John Young, the meat man, is having lots of fun these days. His horse ran away Monday with a huge live porker in the wagon, which spilled out of the gig on the way and was held fast and swung to and fro on "guy" ropes, creating hosts of amusement for spectators. Then another scene was enacted yesterday morning by an unruly heifer, which tipped over the wagon and made things in its vicinity fairly hum with music and groanings. The sooner John becomes a married man the sooner this kind of misfortune will cease. Twenty-eight threshing machines were counted in operation in the vicinity of Drayton, Wednesday. Allowing that each machine averaged 1,500 bushels per day, this would make 42,000 bushels per day-, or 252,000 bushels of grain per week, that said, twenty-eight machines are threshing out. Threshing is but just fairly begun. Little Jimmy Sez The Valley Mews and Views is By Favorite Newspaper. It's Excellent for Reading, and for Paper Training!
